Pregnancy Plan

When you come to see us, together we will work out a plan for your pregnancy care and appointments. You can have your appointments at Spire Bushey Hospital or at Queen Charlotte’s & Chelsea Hospital.

First visit 7-8 weeks
Introductions, viability and dating scan, initial medical and pregnancy history, discussion re screening choices and plan of care.

8-10 weeks
Booking appointment; this is a 45 minute to 1 hour appointment where a full medical and pregnancy history will be taken, advice given on healthy lifestyle and wellbeing in pregnancy. Blood screening tests that we recommend will be explained to you, and samples taken with your consent.

10-12 weeks
Mr Sheridan prefers his patients to have ultrasound and blood screening for chromosomal disorders at a specialist centre, and we will advise you on what is available. These will need to be carried out separately and are not included as part of any of the care packages.

14-16 weeks
Mother and baby wellbeing visit. This includes checking that you and your baby are doing well, and includes an ultrasound scan.

18-21 weeks
Mid-pregnancy (anomaly) scan. Mr Sheridan recommends that this important screening scan is performed either at Queen Charlotte’s Hospital or the Fetal Medicine Centre in London. This cost is not included in the packages.

24 weeks
Mother and baby wellbeing visit.

28 weeks
Mother and baby wellbeing visit. At this visit, we recommend you have a further routine blood test, which we will discuss with you. Also, if you have rhesus negative blood type (which we will know from your first blood tests), you will be advised to have an anti-D injection. Discussion re whooping cough immunisation.

31 weeks
Mother and baby wellbeing visit. Growth scan

34 weeks
Mother and baby wellbeing visit

36 weeks
Mother and baby wellbeing visit.

Note: From 36 weeks onward, ultrasound scans are regularly performed to assess the baby’s growth and the fluid volume surrounding the baby.

38 weeks
Mother and baby wellbeing visit.

39 weeks
Mother and baby wellbeing visit.

40 weeks
Mother and baby wellbeing visit. At this appointment we will discuss your options for on-going pregnancy care, and/or make plans to start labour if appropriate.

41 weeks
Mother and baby wellbeing visit. If not already in place, we will make a plan to start labour if appropriate.

Notes: This is a visit schedule for a normal, uncomplicated pregnancy with a full care or antenatal care only package; Mr Sheridan will see you at either Queen Charlotte’s Hospital or Spire Bushey Hospital when needed or if complications arise, and all visits are included in the package price.

Delivery only patients have 2 visits included, but are welcome to have extra visits if they choose to, which will be charged at a single visit rate.
